Pairing up a neutral with a dark shade, using opposite colours of the wheel or placing two shades with high and low value next to each other can introduce a contrast. Amount of sunlight \u2013 the direction and amount of sunlight that reflects into the space affects the colour scheme. If there is not much sunlight, then opt for neutrals or light shades.<\/p>

Purpose of the space \u2013 functionality of a space is important when selecting colours, an interior designer needs to figure out the purpose and requirement of each room before planning out. A nursery colour will sometimes differ from the colour of the dining area or kitchen.<\/p>

Furniture and styles \u2013 the furniture and interior style play a significant role. Different styles have different colour palettes. A rustic style colour palette will differ from a modern or Bohemian. Likewise, furniture material and upholstery colours need to be on par with the wall colours.<\/p>
